The orchestra performed a Star Wars themed concert complete with light sabers, visitors from the far away galaxy, costumes, video clips, and music from various Star Wars movies.

The students worked tirelessly to perfect the music.

“We started preparing at the beginning of the school year,” director Kevin Garcia- Hettinger said.

Each class had hours of rehearsals and were 100% dedicated to making the concert noteworthy.

“I have great students who are highly motivated,” Garcia-Hettinger said.

For the concert, all of the orchestras got together to perform some of the music. Each class practiced separately and collaborated for the concert.

“There is always room for improvement in any performance but our students work hard and really know how to focus under pressure,” he said.

The concert featured songs from Star Wars such as Epic 1 and 2, The Force Awakens, and Rey’s Theme.

“I thought the concert was a huge success,” Garcia-Hettinger said. “I am very proud of our orchestra students.”

There were also guest appearances by Chewbacca, R2-D2, Han Solo, Storm Troopers, and Darth Vader.

“This was one of the most amazing concerts, yet,” junior and varsity orchestra student Olivia Osborn said. “The music was great and the actors made the show come to life. My favorite part of the whole night was performing the nale.”

After successfully performing the concert, the musicians prepared for their next big event, which was the region orchestra competition.
