Tonight at Harlan Stadium the Holmes girls varsity basketball team compete against the Taft raiders at 6:00pm.

Head coach Gerald McCaslin briefs fans on two lead scorers for the raiders.

“I’m expecting their guard to be really aggressive and try to get into the paint as much as possible. I’m expecting another one of their players, which happens to be the guards sister, to be really aggressive on the boards,” McCaslin said.

Coach McCaslin explains the various types of defense that Taft might execute during tonight’s matchup.

“Defensively, I think they’re going to give us a matchup zone. They’re probably going to give us a little 1-3-1, and some man to man. I don’t think they’re going to do any full court presses or anything like that to us. They’re probably banking on the fact of if we’re not scoring enough, they’re going to think they can play a straight up man to man or our matchup,” McCaslin said.

With high hopes from his team, Coach McCaslin describes what it will take for the girls to come out of tonight victorious.

“I hope for them to come out, be aggressive, have confidence, play extremely hard, stick to our game plan, and just execute. If we execute, we’ll be able to beat a lot of people,” McCaslin said.

Coach McCaslin gives the fans an insight on what their expectations should be for tonight’s game.

“Fans should expect to see a totally different style of basketball. They should expect to see a big focus on defense, and a lot more discipline when we’re out there playing. I have a feeling it’s going to be a lot more exciting to watch. We’re really trying to get more pride and more school spirit involved in the program,” McCaslin said.
