If you saw our recent posts, then you know we have begun our latest interactive feature; our bean and cheese taco tournament.

The Gavel Staff continues the 1st Annual HHS Taco Tourney with the final battle of the first round. In one corner, we have the place everyone goes after that long graduation, Henry’s Puffy Tacos, going up against the classic hub for Mexican cuisine, Taqueria Guadalajara.

In our last matchup, we saw Bill Miller’s fight an easy battle against Taco Cabana, with Bill Miller’s winning the right to advance. Now we are ready for game four. Using the same process and rubric, we will be rating them equally and unbiasedly. Here is the rubric that our staff created by which we rated these locations once again to determine who is the victor:

The first rubric item we have is the bean-to-cheese ratio; just how balanced these tacos are.

Next is the bean quality. Do they taste like canned beans, or freshly mashed and fried?

Another item is the cheese quality. Is it grated American cheese, or high quality dairy products?

The tortilla quality is next on the list, bought from the store or homemade and perfected by Mom?

The value of the tacos is next, where price and size are considered.

Finally, we have the convenience of the location, just how far is it, and how fast is the service?

The result was decisive: Henry’s Puffy Tacos dominated Taqueria Guadalajara in every single item on the rubric besides value, because Taqueria had the better prices.

Just as before, we added up all the points they got collectively, divided the numbers by the amount of judges we had, and then compared the two to determine the victor of the fourth matchup.

Henry’s Puffy Tacos claimed the win after an easy battle and is moving on to the next round of the competition.

Tune in to see the start of the second level of the competition, where Bill Miller will be going up against Henry’s Puffy Tacos. Check us out next time for those results!
