With the passing of the Autumnal Equinox and the effects of fall just around the corner, many students have begun preparing for the cold with one of the things they know best: fashion.
A plethora of possibilities are presented by the sweater weather, changing how everyone will dress. “I feel like the most important part of the outfit is the blazer,” senior Alexander McEwen said. “It’s what everyone sees first, the body of what you’re wearing and what stands out the most.”
Although mostly everyone is affected by the change in climate, opinions differ on how clothes should be put together. “An outfit should revolve around the shoes,” senior Katerina Tsvetkova said. “It’s the most important part because if you have the wrong pair then it messes up the entire outfit.”
Not everything revolves around the students, however, they often look up to others for inspiration regarding what they wear.
“My role model in fashion definitely has to be Bruno Mars,” junior Elijah Duquette said. “We both strive to dress like gentlemen.”
Not all take after their favorite artist or celebrity when they dress.
“Kanye West is sometimes my inspiration, but I just dress the way I want to,” junior Jules Pastelero said. “I dress for me, not anyone else.”
Many times, the weather will impact the types of clothes we wear.
“I have a lot of long sleeve hunting camouflage shirts that I’ll wear as usual,” junior Elijah Madrid said. “I’m happy for the cold weather because I can finally wear them all day without being so hot all the time.”
Fashion really goes beyond the clothing people put on their bodies, it can mean a lot to them and the people around them as well.
“I like fashion because it’s a culture. It doesn’t give me confidence, per sé, but it’s just a way to express myself and I feel like it helps make me who I am,” Pastelero said.
During this time of the year, several students will be flooding to stores for the new season. Which stores, though, is where the opinion varies.
“I really like shopping at American Eagle, they have really good quality since I have something from them that is still soft after years of wear,” Tsvetkova said. “I also like shopping at H&M, and both brands are very affordable.”
“I don’t like H&M. The quality is really cheap and terrible,” McEwen said.
“I don’t really have a favorite place, but I love shopping at American Eagle whenever I have the time.” Duquette said.
“I’ll shop anywhere where I find something I like, such as Ralph Lauren,” Pastelero said. “Except for American Eagle.”
With all the new possibilities in fashion this late in the year, many students are excited.
“Before I leave, I have to do one last thing,” Duquette said. “Look in the mirror for a second and check my outfit, and then do my swank walk.”
