Upperclassmen all know of WOW week and coincidentally the WOW dance, but as some sophomores have said they forgot about its existence due to last year’s lackluster event and little advertising.
Students from mostly sophomores and up are wondering how the around-the-corner WOW week will go as the last year wasn’t very entertaining and hope for something like the two before that one.
“I didn’t really know what was going on,” says sophomore Deeana Harris, “I know it was there but most of the freshmen didn’t participate.”
On the other hand, “it’s pretty cute and unique” including some classic high school dance themes and distinguishing class necklaces.
Junior Leila Elble answered, “I actually think it’s a cute concept… getting labeled was kinda funny even if it got a bit out of hand.”
Undoubtedly our school gets the same wave of freshmen phases, the initial ones being quiet and secluded, but many begin to adjust after a month in school.
“I see a lot of freshmen go,” says junior Marissa White. “It’s where a lot of them become comfortable with one another while being at school and build bonds with others.”
Moreover, it’s the way “for everyone to meet new friends” by bringing every grade together to celebrate the new school year and its events.
“It’s one of the few opportunities we have to be together as a school and not have it be a competition because it always is,” says senior Kendall Mikolajczyk.
