Frank Ocean has always been known to speak his mind through his music without any restrictions. Just like how he let the whole world know that he’s gay when he kept referring to a “he” in his famous “thinking about you” song.

July 10, 2012 was the day that Frank Ocean spoke no more. He left the world speechless after announcing his sexuality in a hip-hop culture that isn’t famous for being too friendly to LGBTQ causes, and left audiences wondering. We knew there was going to be an upcoming album. Question was, when was it going to drop?
From all then times he revealed release dates of his album none of them came to be true. The world was starting to think that this so called album was just a myth. Until August 20 when all the rumors were shut down. Frank Ocean released his “Blond” album and it went viral as soon as it hit the music exporting sites.
The Blond album had a different touch compared to his old albums. In his previous album, Channel Orange, he focused more on the beat and how the music actually sounded.
But in his Blond album he put more effort in to the lyrics. He made sure that the words were meaningful and worth the listen. “Nights” from the Blond album has put many people including me in to their “feels”.
In the song “Self Control” he made listeners want someone to think that highly of them just as he explains his vulnerability for that person. He makes it clear that his want for that person turned in to a need. Which is why his own self control for that significant other is almost non existent.
Making people reach a whole different depth of feelings that they didn’t know they were capable of having.
Regardless of the crowds thoughts, Frank Ocean managed to surprise people with a completely different way of producing his music.
