Tonight at 7:30pm at Harlandale Memorial Stadium the varsity football team will take on the Harlandale Indians. Here’s a quick preview of the matchup and what fans should expect:
After an intense game last Friday against the Southwest Dragons, head coach Juan Morales is aware of the effort that the players put into the game.
“I just want them to know that even though the score didn’t show it, they’re showing constant improvement, and we’re looking forward to this next game,” said Morales.
Defensive coordinator Adrian Trevino talks about some of the progress the team has been making.
“We’re right in the thick of it. We’re very very close. They’re on the right path, now it’s just learning to stay consistent through the entire game. I think we’re going to be great,” Trevino said.
Comparing Southwest’s defense to Harlandale’s, here’s what coach Morales had to say:
“They change quite a lot, they use multiple fronts so it’s not as consistent as Southwest’s defense. They have average players in average positions, so we’re going to take advantage of that and play an above average game,” Morales said.
Junior corner Xavier Gonzales discusses the expectations he has for tonight’s game.
“I expect our defensive line to be more aggressive physically and to be able to move around on the quarterback. If we can take out their quarterback threat, that’s game,” Gonzales said.
In an attempt to build a stronger bond with the players and community of Holmes on and off the field, here’s what coach Trevino had to say:
“We’re hoping to create that buzz on campus and get it to where we can get banners and posters on every corner of the school, and on the walls. I think when the guys see that, it will give them more confidence and they’ll realize they have everyone supporting them,” Trevino said.
