Varsity football takes on the Harlan Hawks tomorrow at 7:00pm at Dub Farris Stadium in their first game of the new season. Here’s what the coaches had to say about tomorrow’s matchup:

Head Coach Juan Morales on what fans should expect to see from the Harlan offense tomorrow:

“Harlan has a good young offense and the coaches have done a good job, so we’re looking forward to seeing what kind of offense they come out with,” Morales said. “They’ve had a change in coaches so they haven’t showed us their hand yet and we’re kind of waiting to see what exactly they’re going to do while preparing for anything all around, for just a general spread team, or even a run team. We’re waiting to see what happens and anticipating them really coming after us and putting some pressure. Even though they’re young, they’re are going to wait and see if we’ll get rattled early on or not.”

Morales explains how the scrimmage against San Marcos helped learn about this year’s Husky team:

“It went very well. We did sustain a small injury that we will be able to overcome, but for the most part we executed, we had a lot of discipline, and showed a lot of effort,” Morales said. “Everything we’ve taught them, they’ve taken it and ran with it. It was a pleasant experience to see them do that with San Marcos and now that we’re playing Harlan, we’re looking forward to seeing how well we’ve learned from our mistakes.”

Morales also gives a little insight on what fans should expect from Harlan on defense tomorrow:

“Coach [Pete] Padilla used to be here at Holmes and he did a really good job with the defense. He will be heating it up over there as well and head coach [Eddie] Salas also puts his hands on the defense,” Morales said. “He’s making sure it’s done the right way, so we understand what defense they have and they always do a good job of being gritty and going hard.”

What can fans do to support the team?

“I think that having their support no matter what is important,” Morales said. “We talk about family and love, so we anticipate all of our fans cheering the whole team just like they would when they’re cheering on their child.”
