The Huskies have been preparing all week to take on the Clark Cougars tonight when the game kicks off this evening at Dub Farris Stadium at 7:30pm on the away side, following up their big homecoming, rivalry win against the Marshall Rams last week.

Head Coach Juan Morales shared what was learned from last week’s game and how the team is going to apply it tonight against Clark:

“It was extremely rewarding that we were able to put all that work together and wound up in a win. It feels good for the boys, for the coaches,  and for everybody to see what the result was from what all the hard work that has been put in. It was a great example of what happens when you minimize mistakes. We were able to have a great plan. Our game plans usually come out really good, it’s just a matter of them putting the work in,” Morales said.

Morales also shared his thoughts about Clark’s offense and what the fans will expect to see from them tonight:

“I think the fans are going to see a similar team to what Marshall has. They are not as fast with skill positions, but they do have more weapons. Their quarterback is not bad at all, and I know they have several receivers. They have number five, Bivins from Clark, and he is very fast, so they will have a few more weapons offensively than Marshall did. This will spread us out more, but we have a really good game plan,” Morales said.

Morales also shared his thoughts about Clark’s defense and how the team is going to take them on tonight:

“Defensively they have done a really good job against some great teams. Ever since the Jay game, we are able to push the envelope and say that we are really confident on what we can do against Clark,” Morales said

Morales also gave insight on any injuries that may be significant for tonight’s game:

“Jake Lee is still hurt, so we are taking that day by day. We also have a couple of defensive players that have been a little banged up, but we have got a lot of them back. Just like the Marshall game, we are able to rely on some kids that were hurt in the past. Now they are near to full strength, so not anything too crucial. I’m not sure if we are going to play Jake Lee, and that will be a game-time decision and we will see how he feels and how we feel and we will go from there.

Morales also let us know which players to keep an eye on this game and why:

Well D’quarian Haney got the Student Athlete of the Week Award for Texas Sports Radio Network. He also was nominated for play of the week from mysanantonio.com, so he is one you can keep an eye on. He had a lot of rushing yards. He’s looking to have another breakout game tonight. Chris Medelez and Raymond Rios, our quarterback, is also expected to have another good game. Between all of them, we have a lot of good weapons, so they are going to be something to look at offensively.

How can fans best support the team this week?

This is a big game, because whenever you really have a good game, the next game tends to be a low, and we don’t want that to happen. What we want is for the energy to snowball instead of melt and fade away. All week we are staying business as usual rather than trying to live off the momentum from the Marshall win. We don’t want to get too high or too low, so if we stay to what we have been doing, we will be fine. What we are asking the fans to do is to is to try to pick it up when we are in knots. It will be a little far, it is at Farris, so it will be a little harder for fans to go out there because of the distance. We are looking for the fans to have the same kind of energy in the stands from the Marshall game.
