The Huskies have been preparing all week to take on the Brennan Bears tomorrow at Gustafson Stadium at 2:00pm on the home side in the last game of the season and the last game of many of the senior players’ careers. The game was originally scheduled for 7:00pm on Saturday, but was moved to the earlier start to accommodate Brennan’s preparation for playoffs next week.
Head Coach Juan Morales shared what was learned from last week’s game and how the team is going to apply it tomorrow against Brennan:
“It went really well, we lost the momentum and had two major mistakes happen in the game which was hard to overcome, but the boys kept fighting. I was really proud of how they ended the game and how they almost pulled it out in the end. It was another learning experience for them of how mistakes can get you, but at the same time it was a great experience knowing they can fight through it,” Morales said.
Morales also shared his thoughts about Brennan’s offense and how the team is going to take them on tomorrow:
“Offensively, they have a receiver who is extremely fast, a quarterback that can give him the ball who’s got a great arm, and their offensive line is very good, so we are going to see how much competition we can give them. We are going to do everything we can, and are going to make sure we empty out the water gun to splash everything we can,” Morales said.
Morales also shared his thoughts about Brennan’s defense and what the fans will expect to see from them tomorrow:
“Brennan defensively is always very sound, and Coach Baizer does a great job at getting them prepared. We’re looking to see how much we can do because we’ll be going up against state championship caliber defense. They’re extremely fast, so we are looking forward to see how we’re going to stack up against a defense like that,” Morales said.
Morales also let us know which players to keep an eye on this game and why:
“This is De’quare’yon Haney’s last game, so we are looking to see if he can get a good breakout game. He’s had a great game for the past two weeks, so we know we’ll put it all together. John Bustos is a senior this year, so we are putting him as quarterback a few more times to throw the ball around. Defensively Ricardo was chosen for the all star games. There are some juniors who are going to join him like Dimitri Rodriguez and some defensive backs who are trying to match his intensity,” Morales said.
How can fans best support the team this week?
“The biggest thing is that the game is on a Saturday this weekend, so it is hard to get people out there. If the fans could just be there, be present and really show just their gratitude for the boys would be great. They’ve worked so hard these ten weeks and to have positive support from the fans would be great,” Morales said.
