What’s spookier than a bit of Halloween-themed nostalgia?! Did you know that McDonald’s is bringing back their spooky Happy Meals? Fangtastic! I know most people will be excited!

Have your parents ever told you about the “good old days?” When I was younger, my parents would complain about going out to eat and how much it costs. It was a treat just to get a happy meal, but even when I did, they would tell me how when they were younger, they had better toys. They had collectables. They had things that their parents would drive from one restaurant to another. At Halloween time, they gave out their meals in little baskets that they could use for trick-or-treating. Well guess what, Mcdonald’s is bringing back their spooky happy meals in the baskets! Fangtastic!

After doing some research, I found out just how far back these spooky happy meal baskets go back to.  Get ready.  1986!  Literally a lifetime ago.  But that doesn’t stop the excitement, 8th grader Zareina Hicks is pretty excited about it. She impatiently waited for them to bring them back on the 18th.

That’s right, from October 18th through October 31, 2022 McDonalds will be handing their happy meals in these buckets.  They have white ghost pails, green witch pails, and orange jack-o-lantern pails.

There are so many people excited about it.  Mrs. Neal expressed her excitement, “It’s nostalgic and I’m excited about them coming back. I know that my kiddos will love them. I might even order a happy meal just to get another bucket.” She’s excited to share something from her past with her kids.  “I wonder how many students will bring them to school.  I’m sure they will have them filled with candy; girls will probably even carry them as purses.”

Now that they are out, McDonald’s lines are wrapped around the building. Everyone wants the buckets.  Zareina said her grandma got like five pumpkin pails and used them as decorations in the trees, very cute and festive. 7th grader, Jayden Smith said, “I’m going tonight and since the happy meals don’t fill me up, I’m going to get what I normally get and the happy meal.” Several students around him agreed they were planning on doing the same thing.

What about you? Are you going to jump on the bandwagon? Get your McBoo Buckets!
