New Experiences : Don’t Be Afraid

Starting middle school can be a really scary experience for some kids. The transition from elementary to middle school could bring major changes from what kids going to middle school can find a bit intimidating. Some examples could be a larger school environment which leads to them meeting kids they’ve never met before from different schools, different states, and countries. This transition could also lead to fear or anxiety. This makes it crucial for teachers, parents, and councilors to show support and help them through this fearful time.
One of the biggest fears about first starting middle school is getting lost in the hall. You don’t have to worry about getting lost in the hall, just ask a nearby teacher and they will point you in the right direction without a problem. Learning where your classrooms are isn’t that hard. You’ll remember where each one is by the end of the week, or maybe the first day of school!
Another fear could be handling lockers.Remembering the code and the way to twist the lock could be confusing for your first time. Trust me, I’ve been there. I just think of it as my phone password. It’s not hard, really just use your memory and you’ll be opening your locker in no time.
A fear I had myself when I was starting 6th grade is bullying. But I learned people don’t really bother you if you aren’t in any drama and you just keep to yourself. If someone ever tries to drag you into drama, IGNORE IT!!!!! They aren’t worth it. Your education is worth more than just fighting over a boy or fighting for reason at all. Number one rule is if you don’t want it to be repeated DON’T say it. Another way to handle if someone is trying to bring you into drama is to tell a staff member or a trusted adult and they’ll deal with it before it gets too out of hand if it hasn’t already.
Just remember to focus on yourself and your grades. Don’t overwork yourself, you’ll get through middle school just fine!
What great advise! Thank you for sharing!!
