Winter Joys

Mist so icy you can see the fog of your breath as the days grow shorter and nights grow longer. The chill of winter settles in and everyone prepares for the busiest season of all. Baking, decorating, winter activities, and the excitement of Christmas all contribute to the warmth of winter, despite the cold.
Have you ever been huddled inside your home drinking a warm cup of cocoa while baking treats and decorating your Christmas tree? I’m sure you have one time or another because that’s one of the best things to do on a chilly winter night. Baking with your family is one of the most hectic, but fun, things one can do. People yelling out ingredients, everyone wants to get in on the action but all just end up making a mess. But it’s rewarding once that sweet scent starts to fill up the room, cookies in every form you can think of. Reminiscing when decorating the tree with ornaments that have been passed down and used for years. Trying to untangle the piles of lights that just never seem to end. It might be overwhelming but when you’re sitting back drinking your cocoa and admiring your work, it’s worth it.
Winter activities, meant to keep you entertained throughout the busy season. For most people they would usually go outside in the snow and play, making snow angels and whatnot. But unfortunately here in Texas we aren’t quite lucky enough for that so we must entertain ourselves with other things. Ice skating is one of them. You get dressed up all warm and cozy and do your best NOT to fall as you glide across the slippery ice. Then we have light shows. Driving around looking at thousands of lights in all types of forms while Christmas music plays in the background is basically a winter tradition. Lastly we have amusement parks. During winter SeaWorld and Six flags decorate their park’s Christmas theme. Shows, lights, sweet treats, and season merchandise all available for anyone who wants to get into the Christmas spirit.
Finally, after all that we have the most exciting day of the year, Christmas. The anticipation as you watch presents pile up under the tree. The butterflies in your stomach while you’re trying to go to sleep on Christmas eve but you just can’t. Waking up in the morning patiently waiting to tear off the wrapping paper of your gifts curious to see what you got. Sitting down and eating a delicious feast of turkey, ham, macaroni, and lots more. One day a year you get to be with your family, eat yummy food, and exchange gifts. If Christmas isn’t the best part of winter then I don’t know what is!
Now that you know of all winter’s joys I hope you participate in at least one of these activities so that you can see what the hype is all about!
Hey! That’s us to a T !
