Christian Music: More than Just Worship

“I will sing unto the lord as long as I live, I will sing praise to my God While I have my being,”  – Psalms 104:33

In today’s Society, music and entertainment often glorify worldly desires and false idols, leading many Christians away from the truth of God. This is mostly due to the lack of understanding about the power  and beauty of Christian music. Many  people are unaware that worship isn’t just a religious act but it’s a way to connect deeply with God, to express gratitude and find peace in his presence. Christian music carries the same energy, emotion and creativity as modern secular music, but with a purpose that uplifts the soul rather than distracts it. Just like mainstream genres, it’s across styles whether it’s pop, rock, hip-hop, or country yet its message is pure, inspiring, and life giving. Instead of promoting temporary pleasures that lead others into a life and mind of sin. Music that glorifies our god reminds us of God’s promises and his unfailing love.

Christian music has been around for centuries, evolving over time to reflect the changing world while staying rooted with faith. Much of it originated from prayers in the Bible and expressions of worship. These songs have long been sung in churches as a way to praise and connect with God, with church choirs being a prime example of this tradition. Their music is described as deep, emotional, and moving with hymns and worship songs being passed down through generations and spreading across the globe.

In today’s era, christian music is more well known than ever, though it  remains a somewhat infamous genre. Social media platforms like instagram and tiktok have played a role in introducing it to new audiences, with pastors and christian influencers using their platforms to share worship music and messages of faith. Many churches incorporate music into their services, beginning with prayer and concluding in powerful songs that bring the congregation together in worship. Whether in traditional hymns or contemporary christian music, the genre continues to inspire and uplift people around the world.

There are many incredible Christian artists that have a variety of genres making it easy to find faith based music that fits your style. For those who enjoy upbeat-indie-pop, Forrest frank is a great choice, his music has a pretty similar vibe to artists like Declan Mckenna and Mac Demarco. If you prefer a country sound, Zach Williams and the amazing Chris Stapleton offer powerful songs with meaningful messages. In the rap genre there’s the ground breaking Kanye west whose album “Jesus Is King” has inspired many to connect with god, as well as MickeySoChristian whose covers of popular 2000s R&B songs are great hits. For those who lean towards Rock and roll, there’s a diverse selection of artists, from the hard hitting sound of flyleaf to the soul rocking sound of Josh Garrels. ( Who is my personal favorite)

No matter what genre you love, you can find Christian music to match it. A simple search on platforms like Spotify or Apple Music will lead you to many faith based playlists that are guaranteed to put you in a good mood everyday. While secular music has been praised and overly popular, faith based music remains strong, giving everyone a way to enjoy the sounds we love while staying connected to God.
