Anxiety and stress is a global problem, and is quite an experience for every one of us that goes through it. Many may wonder, “How can I balance or even find my center through a chaotic world?” Some people say, “Balance shows a sense of well-being.” Some know that this is not the only answer. Your life can be this photograph. Having inner balance in you, your life can be strong and put together, like these rocks. In this article, I give more information about finding your inner balance or center in a chaotic world. Let’s start with the biggest topic, focusing on your emotions.

Finding Your Emotional Self

The emotional self is mainly who and what we are and the way we experience and feel about the world around us. Many people say that this is our feeling self, but the truth is that this perspective of ourself is not really different from what and who we are. It is the base of our well-being, getting to understand it and ourselves.

“Emotional self” refers to emotions, the ability to understand and manage feelings, and your internal world of feelings. It is related to emotional self-awareness, which is understanding your own emotions and its impact on your thoughts or actions.

Elizabeth Gilbert talks about how your thoughts influence and control your emotions and your emotions control you. “Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions.”

Encouraging your emotional self improves the overall well-being, builds stronger relationships, and makes better decisions in your life by promoting self-awareness, allowing emotions to be healthy, and providing a foundation with a healthy and kind conversation. This could lead to a more positive perspective, reduced stress and anxiety, and better connections.

Mindfulness & Meditation

Mindfulness is a state of present awareness, paying attention to your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgement. Meditation is a practice that encourages mindfulness through techniques such as focused breathing, imagery, and repetition.

“The best way to capture moments is to pay attention. This is how we cultivate mindfulness. Mindfulness means being awake. It means knowing what you are doing.” This quote from Jon Kabat-Zinn teaches the principles of mindfulness as self-awareness. “Meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet. It’s a way of entering into the quiet that’s already there – buried under the 50,000 thoughts the average person thinks every day.” – Deepak Chopra

Focusing on the present moment, practicing deep breathing, and interest in meditation can help calm the mind and reduce anxiety. To practice mindfulness and meditation, you can:

  • Find a quiet place: Seek a distraction-free and comfortable environment—-
  • Lie or sit down: Choose a comfortable position that allows you to relax——
  • Focused breathing: Notice the rise and fall of your breath as it enters and exits out of your body
  • Pay attention to your thoughts: Without judgement, notice the emotions and thoughts that rise.

Aftermath of Inner Balance

The effects and symptoms of having inner balance in your life is making time to be with friends and family who are supportive, encouraging, looking for opportunities to connect with others, give to the environment around you, and practice self-compassion for yourself and one another.

“When you make peace with yourself, you make peace with the world.” -Maha Ghosananda
