Christmas Gift Ideas for Teens!
By: Gianna Marques- Ozuniga (7)
Do you like Christmas presents? I know I do! How much money do you spend? What about your parents? Did you know that the average American spends around $997.73 per year, and most of that goes to their kids!
Unfortunately, most adults struggle with what to buy their kids for this time of year. As a result, most kids are unhappy with the gifts they receive, and that just ruins the whole meaning of this jolly holiday. So, if you want your kids to be happy this year, keep reading! Some popular gifts that students want are below.
Shoes
Shoes have been and will continue to be a big item wanted for Christmas. 7th grader, Ramiro Maldonado says, “For Christmas I want Jordan Fours.”
While 6th grader, Anaiyah Arredondo, also states, “From Santa I want a pair of Air Forces.”
I could go on and on about what type of shoe people want, but the point is that shoes are still a hot item for under the tree.
Video Games/ Gaming Consoles
Video games have been all the rage since the 90s. Mostly for the boys, who from all over the world, spend hours staring at their TVs. For the past few years, the PS5 and the PC have been the most wanted thing for teenage boys. Best Buy has these items for sale, especially during black Friday. If you’re unsure what kind of games to get your gamer, maybe Call of Duty, Halo, or Fortnite are the way to go!
Electronics
Whether it’s a new phone, airpods, or video gaming system, electronics are also on most people’s list this year. Several students have phones and got them during quarantine, but those that don’t are asking for phones. In addition, 7th grader Rayanna Garcia mentioned, “I want airpods this year.”
Hopefully families hit up the Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday sales for the electronics. Middle schoolers prefer electronics over toys!
Makeup
Most teenage girls are all about makeup and clothes, therefore more than half of their Christmas list will be full of these pricey cosmetics. 7th grader Aubrey Rodrigez said, “I want makeup.”
An affordable brand that everyone loves is Elf. Their camo concealer and their power grip primer sell out every year and at an affordable price!
Laura Mercier is another very popular brand, known for their translucent setting powder. However, this product is highly expensive starting at about $30! A product to substitute could be the Wet n’ Wild Translucent powder. (It is also said to be better than the Laura Mercier) The Wet n’ Wild powder ranges from about $5-$6. Other affordable brands are Nyx, L’Oreal, Maybelline, and ColourPop.
Snack Baskets
You can never go wrong with a snack basket for any age! Snack baskets consist of the person’s favorite chips, candy, gum, cookies, soft drinks etc. Most people go to 5 Below to get the goods, which is the most affordable option. Takis, Hot Cheetos, Cheetos, Doritos, Lays (both barbeque and original) are all the rage for this generation, and they would add a great touch to your snack basket. Don’t forget the drinks: Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, or a Gatorade.
Christmas is almost everyone’s favorite holiday, and gifts shouldn’t cost hundreds of dollars to make someone happy. It’s the thought that counts.
