The pass shanks all the way to the end line! The setter runs to go get it, and she gets it up! The hitter SLAMS the ball down! “J, M, S!”, the crowd goes wild. Everyone cheers in sync while they’re getting ready to serve again.

August 19, 2024, was the first day of tryouts started for volleyball. An hour and 30 minutes put into tryouts for 3 days! Finally, it was the end of tryouts for both 8th and 7th grade. After all the running, drills, and even more running 7th and 8th graders had to do, 30 girls made the 8th grade teams, and 30 girls made the 7th grade teams.

Sophia Mendiola, a 8th grader on A team states, “I was scared of tryouts because I have never played Volleyball before, and I thought I was going to get cut.” She also stated, “I was really surprised when I made the A team because I thought I was super bad, but supposedly I’m not that bad!” It is a big accomplishment to make the team because not everybody makes it.

On September 19th, the 8th and 7th graders went against Zachary. The 8th grade A team swept Zachary in just 2 sets. The 8th grade B team Lady Jags won the first set easily. Unfortunately, The Lady Wolverines won the second set, but it didn’t end there. The Lady Jags fought their hardest and won the game in the third set! The 7th grade A team won in 3 sets. The 7th grade B team won in 2 sets, lost the 3rd one, but won the game.

The Lady Jags play Jones Middle School this week, and the following week play Rudder Middle School. They work so hard everyday, and are so strong! They plan to keep fighting to reach the gold bracket.
