Dance team, Drill team, and Pep Squad have important upcoming halftime performances and new uniforms. Carmen Schultz, first-year drill team member, and Hailey Julian, first-year pep squad captain, find their experiences in the spirit program to be “good and very rewarding, it’s a lot of hard work” Carmen said.
A shared comment between the two were about some changes made to the spirit organization as a whole. For example, new uniforms, new pop poms, new shoes, etc.
“I love the new uniforms, they’re very cute and very nice.” Carmen said.
Drill team is constantly working and preparing dances to present to the school. Because of this, members of the organization find it equal parts exciting and nerve wrecking.
“I like all the football halftime performances. The teacher’s dance is going to be exciting.” Carmen said.
Pep Squad Captain Hailey Julian shares her experiences as a first time captain. “It feels really good. The girls are really committed to it.”
Not only is it important to be a good performer, but it is equally important to have good time management between school and fine arts.
“I think sometimes it could be difficult, because trying to figure out which ones to prioritize is challenging.” Carmen Schultz said.
Although some aspects of being a part of the spirit organization can be difficult at times, Carmen and Hailey both express that the work they put in at the end of the day is worth it.
“I love being able to perform,” Carmen said.
The Spirit organization, run by Victoria Johnson, makes the girls on their teams feel pride. Throughout the years, friendships are made and competitions are won.
“My favorite thing about being a pep squad captain is definitely the memories because the girls make it really fun. It makes all the hard work worth it,” Hailey said.
