Introducing: Homecoming King and Queen

“I feel honored,” Homecoming king Roman Rodriguez said. “I feel blessed that I was a part of this.”

Last weekend was the 2024 Hoco dance. Alongside a night filled with music and dancing was also the game where the Homecoming King and Queen were crowned. Karmyn Daily and Roman Rodriguez were the winners of the crown.

“It’s very like humbling, because it’s like, wow,” Karmyn said. “ I feel like the whole school appreciates me.”

Both seniors had the opportunity to speak their minds about how they felt when they were notified about being nominated for the crowns of Marshall. Both felt the feelings of nervousness, appreciation and honor among all things when being crowned for court.

“My first reaction when I got nominated was, this is a dream,” Roman said. “I was actually surprised, because I didn’t think that I would be on the court.” Karmyn said.

When asked about high school goals, The king was more open and specific about his answers when it came to the question, He kept it simple with varying explanations to give context about his goal and hopeful accomplishments.

“One of my goals is just to learn about everybody,” Roman said. “You know, I love talking to people, and I love finding out everyone’s stories.”

While the queen was more broad and laid back, her responses varied by the minute and gave an open minded outlook on how she felt about homecoming and high school goals and plans.

“I’m excited for all the senior activities.” Karmyn said. “I’ve always looked up to the seniors and was jealous of all the stuff that they got to do.”

For closing and final words, Roman and Karmyn gave advice to lower classmen about what to do, expect and to be prepared for high school upcoming and present years and important things.

“Don’t try to be anyone else. Be yourself,” Roman said. “You don’t want to be the first Kylie Jenner, whatever you do, you want to be the first to you.”

When recapping with the King and Queen, It was clear to see that throughout the interviews, both seniors spoke their minds and openly expressed themselves allowing to see the different personality traits of both amazing people.

“Don’t be scared to come out of your shell,” Karmyn said. “Don’t be scared to talk to new people, because you’re going to be with them for the rest of your high school career.”
