As the spring season approaches and a district win clinch from fall, the Varsity Tennis team hopes to continue where they left off. With renewed energy and strengthened adjustments, the team is focused on making this final season of the year enjoyable and impactful.
“We learned how teamwork really does come with its successes, although tennis is primarily an individual sport,” Elizabeth Marquez said. “We all learned that cheering each other on and just being there supporting other teammates really brought out the most in everyone.”
This was the team’s first time making it to district in seven years. Head Coach Alex Sundin hopes to remain in a good position going forward the upcoming season with new methods and mindsets.
“This program has a lot of talented kids who are willing to work as hard as possible to get themselves where they need to be,” Sundin said.
The tennis team has come a long way from their region drought within the years, reaching goals higher than the year before and making a name for the team. Coach Sundin hopes to continue to guide his team onto breaking more records and success, the players also had a perspective toward the new outreach for the team.
“Definitely picking our heads back up, learning to get back up from our losses,” Emily Crist said. “It was obviously a big win getting up there but also trying to get to practice again, like getting more encouraged to keep going forward for the rest of the year.”
