Summary

Theater production presents Diviners Oct.10-11 and the 17-18! This is Theaters first production of the school year.
For many people well versed in theater the week before opening night (tech week) is known as one of the most hectic weeks with all the scrambling to put acting and tech cues together. Tech Director Javier Sanchez and Theater Director Leona Deleon discuss the progress between the technical and acting side of Diviners and how it all comes together as one.
“It's going good; I feel like we started off very strong. We started building the second week of school, and then we built everything from what we had here.” Sanchez said. “And right now we are just getting down to all the nitty gritty, like getting things perfected and getting ready for opening night.”
Both technical theater and theatrical theater bring two contrasting ideas that come together. Tech provides emotion and depth through the set, lighting and sound while actors bring emotional depth, from the raw emotion crafted by the actors body language, sound of voice and facial expressions.
“They’re very complimentary of each other; I think that they’re working extremely well together to tell the story of these people in this time, in this place,” Deleon said. “The scenery adds a depth to the story, and the lighting is just going to be so evocative of the mood. And the emotional complexities of these characters are going to be really pretty show.”
Deleon discusses the impact Diviners had on her and what she believes people would feel about the show based on the elements and themes it entails.
“I am really confident that the audience is going to really enjoy the show, " Deleon said. “It's a show that I revisited over the years, one because I love it, but two, because it's appealing to a huge audience.”
Finally Sanchez states his view on Diviners and how the audience will react to it when it's all put together.
“I think it's a show you do not want to miss," Sanchez said. “Because with what tricks we have that are coming, I think it's gonna be a very visually and heartfelt show. Don’t miss it!”
