Kicking Goals: JV Soccer
2November 8, 2024 by Aiden Rodriguez
The JV Soccer team is gearing up for an upcoming new season this spring with students eager to see what the team can achieve. Students are certainly excited to see what this JV team has to show with new players, a new gameplan, new goals and a new season, growing as a team and preparing for future Varsity challenges.
“Our goals for this upcoming season are to develop and improve our style of play–the basics, and positional awareness to prepare the athletes for becoming Varsity players,” Head Coach Cody Peterson said.
Despite their confidence, the team will face challenges both on the field and with personal stressors. Peterson emphasizes a positive approach.

“I try to stay positive with someone who is struggling, make sure they understand that mistakes are part of the game and it is how we react to them that we can control,” Peterson said.
To keep players motivated, the coaching staff’s main focus is to challenge their players and make sure they are 100%.
“I try to make sure that there is purpose in our training. We do multiple activities, and most importantly the best way to learn the game, is to play the game,” Peterson said.
Regarding the team’s strengths, Peterson noted the importance of the different roles everyone has.
“While all players are important, in any good team you need a good spine,” Peterson said. “So a good goalkeeper, center backs are the leaders and someone that can put the ball in the back of the net.”
