The Final Whistle

On Saturday Nov. 9, the Varsity Football team’s seniors had their final walk on the field concluding not only a win but memories altogether.
“Football taught me many things but it taught me how to be a team player and how to communicate with others,” right guard Ethan Espinoza said.
Espinoza’s experience is supported by Coach Garza’s observations of growth.
“They have grown tremendously not only physically but mentally as well,” Defensive Coordinator Emilio Garza said. “These seniors came in as freshmen with such a positive attitude; it was infectious, and now it really hasn’t stopped.”
As Coach Garza reminisces toward another season ending, the seniors look back at the pivotal game that defined their journey.
“The way the coaches described it is football isn’t about wins or losses,” quarterback Donavyn Lopez said. “It has taught me about hardships and having to bounce back from it.”
The seniors’ reflections highlight not only personal growth but also the broader impact of football for their lives and the community.
“By having better character and understanding different lessons; whether it be bad or good it taught me how to move forward and not let it get to me,” Espinoza said.
The seniors began moving forward, Coach Garza wanted to remind them of this message.
“This is something I said in an interview when I was a senior in high school to the rest of the underclassmen back in my day; ‘Do what you think is right, and love doing it’,” Garza said.
