Volleyball Meets Challenges Of 2020

The volleyball team has had several expected challenges this season due to COVID-19, but due to their cooperation with the situation and ability to work through everything together, they’ve stayed safe and will be able to continue to play the game they love.

Volleyball, like many other groups and organizations, has to manage with set safety protocols. Head Coach Melissa Dahle understands the dangers of not following the rules set in place, and has been impressed with the unity of the team to follow the guidelines. “We also have to be mindful and very disciplined about safety,” Dahle said. “Our girls have been amazing on following protocols. We are very proud of them.”

The team has taken the Coronavirus and all the steps to prevent its spread seriously, and Dahle has been shown that she can trust in her players which will go a long way in forming a team bond. Due to the pandemic, the team lost its 15 game preseason. “Usually during that time, we find a line up and have a lot of team bonding experiences,” Dahle said. The current situation has shown the coaches and players that they will have to be even more motivated than usual to get past the challenge of less competition than usual.

While they’ve faced many difficulties in this environment the team continues to go on strong and seemingly have a positive attitude towards this new season. “The girls are thankful for the opportunity to play this year,” Dahle said. “They know that there was a chance that this wasn’t going to happen.”

With an increase in team numbers and a positive attitude for the rest of the season, there is reason to be optimistic and happy for the volleyball team this season. Also, COVID-19 hasn’t even affected participation as according to Coach Melissa Dahle “Our team numbers are actually larger this year than last year”.
