With a little help from Thing, decades old movie sequel still holds its own

Smoke, cobwebs, morbid humor and creepy characters have filled the world of The Addams Family from the original TV show to the most recent animated version.  These elements have also made them a celebrated favorite at Halloween and, even though they were made long before this generation was born, they entertain new generations with ghoulish laughter each Halloween and the sequel Addams Family Values, released in 1993 is the one you should make time for this spooky season.

Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and produced by Paramount Pictures, the movie is based upon characters originally created by Charles Addams and has a run time of an hour and a half.

The main plot of the movie is about the well-known Addams monster family. During the original film it is teased that they are expecting a baby that arrives for this film.  Gomez and Morticia must get a nanny to watch the baby but, of course, things take an unexpected turn after that. It has a lot of old time classic sound effects that really give the movie it’s sort of clumsy, gritty, hysterical feel.

The production is pretty average but that isn’t needed with this kind of movie. The best part is the comedy. The comedy in this movie is next level, it will have your whole family laughing. I love the fact that the movie doesn’t take itself too seriously. The acting in this movie is really sound. They do such a great job that you really believe they are the scary creatures.

I would recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good time. This movie had me laughing out loud with its subtle humor and exaggerated plot. I would rate this movie a solid 4 talons up out of 5.

Addams Family Values, released in 1993, provides comedy to a new generation and is worth a view for Halloween feels and good laughter.
