Bowling kicks off season with win against Brennan

The school’s bowling team held their season kickoff celebration on Nov. 6 at Bandera Bowl. They began the season with a close game, eventually defeating the Brennan Bears.

Although it was a tight match against Brennan, senior varsity bowler Leila Alamanza, felt good about their win.

“It was pretty great and really close,” Alamanza said.  “We won the first round, lost the second, won the third and tied the last one so it was really close. It was a good game.”

Sophomore varsity bowler, Carlos Alonzo, felt the game showcased the team’s ability.

“It was a great way to start off the bowling season,” Alonzo said. “We have some great players.”

Alamanza believes that the talent and camaraderie among the players will help make this a successful season.

“We’re all really close as a team, we’re like a family,”Alamanza said. “There’s a lot of new people who are just naturally good and I just feel like us being so close is what’s going to make this season really good.”

The team competes against O’Connor on Nov. 26 and Harlan on Nov. 27. Both matches will begin at 6 p.m. at Bandera Bowl.
