I miss the old Kanye

Ever since I heard my first song by Kanye, “Good Life”, I’ve been a big fan of Kanye West. His work really got me into music and was one of the first things that allowed me to connect with my father, as he was a fan as well. His music has made me a more positive person and helped me get through difficult things in my life. I’m so appreciative for that.IMG_6864

I admire Mr. West’s musical talent but my view of him as a person has changed very much since he made his first album, The College Dropout. I can barely recognize the man now. Before, he was an artist who appealed to the less fortunate, talking about working grave-shifts, struggling in school, and dropping out of college. He said that it was unfair to make poor kids want clothing that was so expensive because it was someone they looked up to.      Now he goes against his previous beliefs, and sells torn up cheap clothes for thousands of dollars, joining the people on top, laughing at the bottom. When nobody knew about him, Kanye was humble, and appreciated every good thing that happened to him. Now, after so many accomplishments, so many awards, he takes everything for granted. He’s gotten full of himself and has a huge head. I understand, after everything you’ve done, you’ll feel confident for sure, but you can’t forget about where you came from and shed who you are.

Even his music itself has suffered. Yeezus and The Life of Pablo were drop-offs from previous works such as Graduation and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I still thoroughly enjoyed Yeezus, but Pablo was honestly dull to me. It seemed like he put little effort into it, and few songs really stick out. Before, his life’s experiences helped him create masterpieces. Now, his new attitude directly influences most of his new work, which is terrible. I miss the old Kanye.
