Jellyfish welcome students at the entrance, with seaweed lining them as students near the treasure chest, full of edible treasures. Music booms with a beach ball bouncing around the room. Under the sea delight.
“The WOW Week makes me feel welcomed because I know everyone is friends with one another,” sophomore Joshua Paez said.
Before the WOW dance happens, the week is full of themed days, each relating to a specific group including the teachers, freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors.
“My favorite day is ‘Hug a junior’ day because everyone gets involved and it’s something we do daily,” sophomore Megan Couch said.
Ending the week with the WOW dance, students were submerged into this years theme, “Under the Sea”, with decorations including a small pool.
“The dance was pretty cool and there was a beach ball which was fun,” Paez said.”We played volleyball with it.”
Taking place annually in the beginning of the year, the dance serves as a vessel for friendships to form.
“During freshman year, the dance served as a good way to get to know people,” Berreth said.
