The question that can be debated for days. Heck, depending on your passion, this could be debated for weeks, months, or even years. Can you believe that? There are people that have researched and debated the intention of the movie.

Nightmare before Christmas is a film from 1993. The director is Henry Selick, he’s known for directing  stop motion films  like Coraline, James and the Giant Peach, and many more, is most known for his most popular movie- The Nightmare Before Christmas. If you haven’t seen it, you should stop what you are doing right now and go watch the movie. Seriously- go watch the movie! I’ll wait.

Okay, now that you have watched it, you know that the movie is about how Jack, The Pumpkin King got tired of the annual tradition-Halloween and then stumbled across Christmas Town. He is amazed. So he decided to change the tradition from spooky to jolly. Of course, we have our own traditions for reasons, and Jack learns to appreciate his own holiday and stay in his lane.

Since the movie dips from Halloween to Christmas and back, there is a huge debate about whether or not The Nightmare Before Christmas is a Halloween or Christmas movie. Curious about what our campus thought, I created a poll. 70% of Jordan students believe the movie to be a Halloween movie, while 24% believe it’s a Christmas movie. And oddly enough, 6% haven’t ever seen the movie. (If you are one of those, I sure hope you can go back and add your thoughts. Since I waited between paragraphs 2 and 3 for you.)

Halloween fanatic, 7th grader Izabella Galvan has seen the movie. ”I think it’s great because it’s very entertaining. In my opinion, it is a Halloween movie because it has more Halloween elements.”

The the poll was tallied, Izabella’s stance is the popular opinion. Do you agree?
