Theatre students will be performing Alice in Wonderland on October 27, 28, and 29 at the Marion Sweatmon Auditorium. Students have been working, practicing, and preparing for this show. When asked how long have students been preparing for this show head director of the theatre department Elise Lopez “originally this was going to be our summer camp show but when we came back from summer we had a huge mold infestation so we lost all of our costumes, all of our chairs in here, the auditorium was covered the pit, the props, everything was covered in mold. So we couldn’t do it in the summer because the molding team took several months so we decided to push it to our fall production.” Students, teachers, and staff have been preparing for this show since the summer.
The theatre students and theatre director have been preparing for this event, “it is fun having kids and interacting, but I think they are looking forward to an audience and getting to perform live because last year was primarily zoom stuff”, Lopez said. She and her students are looking forward to having an in-person, unlike last year.
There have been many hands on deck with this show. Teachers, students, tech crew, parents, and staff have all been helping organize this event. “So we’re operating with little to no costumes at all so we’ve called in a parent and she is amazing, Angel Sandoval. She is one of our parents and she was previously a fashion designer so she’s coming in and doing all of our costumes and she’s built a lot of the costumes from scratch and they’re just going to be gorgeous… gorgeous” said Lopez.
