After a year’s suspension, the Lords Of Letters club has resumed after-school meetings. Following the previous years, the club has undergone some major changes. Alongside new health guidelines, new teachers, and a massive influx of new students, the presidents of the club have a lot on their plate, However, they’re confident that they can pull it all together.
Seniors Kyle Letran and Zero have been members of the club for 3 years. After last year, the club was left without leadership. Having been long-time members of the club, and friends with the previous leaders, the two decided to step up.
“I was selected because I have good ideas and I can execute them,” Kyle said. “And I chose Zero because they’re responsible.” They were friends with the previous owners, which helped them take over leadership. Another thing on their agenda is to elect more members. The club’s leadership is supposed to consist of 2 seniors, a junior and a sophomore. Not to mention due to the former librarian retiring, they had to find a new sponsor, which they mentioned was not easy as “she was new to this, and to the school.”
Kyle and Zero anticipate the number of members to decrease as the year goes on. “We expect a lot of people to be there at the beginning of the year, and then slowly decrease,” Zero said. “because a lot of the people either– it doesn’t fit their schedules or like a whole bunch of other issues.” They say that many different factors could contribute to people leaving the club, such as personal drama, unruly behavior, and more.
When asked about what their favorite part of the club was, they said “The people that join. I guess you could say the community, in general. Whether it be making new friends or learning new stuff.” Zero said. “It’s just a good time overall.”
The Lord of Letters club is after school every Thursday from 4:45 pm to 5:20 pm
