Hi, my name is Ismael Duran, and I’m the Editor-in-Chief of “The Talon” this year. Apart from journalism, I’m also President of the school’s National Honor Society chapter and a member of the Spanish Honor Society. In my free time, I like watching movies, hanging out with my family, and working my job at H-E-B. After high school, I hope to attend university and study health sciences so that I can follow my passions towards becoming a doctor.

My name’s Riley Sablatura, and I’m a sophomore staff writer for “The Talon” and an assistant editor. I love to read romance and fantasy novels and recently enjoyed the “Off-Campus” series by Elle Kennedy. I play fullback on the varsity soccer team and also for a club team. My favorite song at the moment is “Not Worth It” by ZillaKami. Lastly, I enjoy saltwater fishing (especially during the summer).

Hi, I’m Clarissa Sanchez, and I’m a sophomore at CAST Teach and an assistant editor for “The Talon.” This is my second year on staff. In my free time, I enjoy bowling and reading novels. I highly recommend the “The Inheritance Games” series by Jennifer Lynn Bares. Coming to CAST Teach has been one of the best things for me. I love that I have so much support from my teachers. Being in a magnet school has brought me so many opportunities that I would not get anywhere else.

My name’s Lauren Bell, I’m a freshman staff writer for “The Talon” this year. I love TWICE, Kali Uchis, and playing “The Last of Us.” I’m in band, and my hobbies include playing the flute, saxophone, drums, bass, guitar, and piano.

Hi, I’m Isabella Emory, but I also go by Bella. I’m a sophomore staff reporter on “The Talon.” Besides being part of “The Talon,” I am also a varsity debater for our school debate team and an advanced theater student whose favorite Broadway show is “Wicked.” If you ask me what subject my highest grade is, it’s always going to be English, but don’t ask me anything about math.

I’m Paul Ayala, and I am a freshman and the calendar compiler. I went to Vale Middle School. I like watching SMii7y on YouTube and eating the No. 4 at Bill Miller Bar-B-Q. My favorite video games are “Call of Duty” and “SnowRunner.” For music, I like Odetari. For my future, I am still thinking about what I want to do later in life.

My name’s Leah-Renee Lopez. I am a freshman reporter on “The Talon” staff. This year, I want to keep up with my grades and assignments. I enjoy writing and browsing the Internet in my free time. I am currently taking a ballet class outside of school. For my sophomore year, I hope to take computer science and video production.

Hey, I’m Christian Vazquez, and I’m a freshman on “The Talon” staff. I love drawing portraits and taking pictures with digital cameras from the 2000s. I also enjoy listening to music. My current favorite album is “Por Vida” by Kali Uchis. In my free time, I love to play video games like, “The Last of Us” and “Fortnite.”

Hey, I’m Zero Valdez. I enjoy writing so much I do it in three different codes (Minecraft Enchantment Table and two others). I was surprised to discover that journalism was not about journaling, which I also enjoy, along with writing poetry and songs. I also play piano, but sadly nothing yet by my favorite band, Deftones. I wish there was a place at Valero to sit. Until then, I’ll spend my lunch eating my hot dogs behind it.
