Lily’s Froglomerate

Frogs are adorable, whether they are alive and hopping around, or are small and stuffed. For senior Lily Godwin, frogs have become the livelihood of her business and by relation, her social life.

“I started crocheting these little frogs that I saw on Instagram, and I’m just going around and selling them in a few different colors,” Godwin said.

Despite having just started this business and her product solely being the iconic frog, Godwin has already received an influx of orders.

Godwin said “They’re really cute. Apparently everybody loves frogs. And they’re really easy to make, they don’t take too much yarn.”

Godwin’s business has been flourishing for a reason, and has continued to grow over time, so much so that she has changed the parameters of purchasing one of her famous frogs.

“The [price] that she originally was going to sell them for, I think it was five dollars, and then the demand was higher, so she raised the prices and I was like, oh, that was smart,” senior and customer Ivy Sazera said.

The price may be great, but so is the quality of the crocheted frogs of this student-turned-crochetier.

“They’re really well made. Actually,” Sazera said. “My cat loves it.”

A lot of love and time goes into making these tiny creatures; they take about 20-30 minutes to make. Godwin’s special stuffies even feature a small, yet meaningful heart as a genius marketing strategy.

Godwin said, “I thought this would give more incentive to buy it if people thought oh, I’ll buy this for my Valentine for my girlfriend.”

Even though making these frogs could solely serve as a fun hobby, Godwin has made this endeavor into a profitable business.

“When I said I was going to start selling frogs, I thought I’d sell like five. But then like, 20 people asked for one and I was like, oh, I could get a good couple concert tickets from this,” Godwin said. “Because originally, I was like, if I just did like $100 that’d be enough for a concert ticket. But then I got a lot more than $100.”

Godwin has left intricately-made tiny frogs in the hands of students and teachers. These frogs are of excellent quality and can still be bought.

“They rock,” Sazera said.
