“These girls are really strong and talented And now it’s my job to make them better than ever.” -Ms. Drinkwalter
On Aug 6, 2023 The Volleyball tryouts commenced! There were 63 girls who tried out.
And after 3 long hard working adrenaline induced days. The coaches set out the list for 8th grade and 7th grade A-B teams! Over 33 girls were cut. Speaking with 7th grader, Bianca Hinojosa, on A team in her word she felt, “Nervous and excited.” However tryouts were, “Somewhat easy and at the same time challenging.” Tryouts really pushed you to be your best. One of her favorite parts was, “Seeing my friends succeed brings me great happiness and the anticipation of opening the letter is so thrilling.”
With a new year comes changes. While we have coach Hall, Fulton, and Kelman,we also have a new coach! That is also our seventh grade science teacher Ms. Drinkwalter! Ms. Drinkwalter has always had a passion for volleyball and has played it throughout her academic career. Ms Drinkwalter stated, “I think that the teams are both looking really good and they have really strong players.” She also continued, “The team is really excited to play, but they do get nervous. As a team we have to mentally go through the nervousness.” Ms Drinkwalter is helping to bring this year’s volleyball better than ever!
With the year getting started, 7th grade girls A and B team both won against Zachary in a heated match And 8th grade as well both teams Beat Zachary in an Intense match!
Then our 7th grade A and B team went up against Jefferson in a nail biting game. But unfortunately Jefferson won. For 8th grade both A and B teams won against Jefferson in a Show Stopping Game! With more to come throughout the school year! Our lady jags will never leave us disappointed! We look forward to seeing more wins throughout the season!
