Football Jags

Cyles Salazar (8)

It’s the middle of the week and everyone is excited because everyone knows that Wednesdays are game days. As our season continues both our 7th and 8th grade football teams work on teamwork, communication, focus, and plays.

Stinson Game

At 3:50pm, the teams are gathered, whether it be on the bus or in the locker room ready to hit the field but then out of nowhere a crack of thunder scares everyone. We rush to the door to check and the sun is shining. Then a gust of wind brought in the delayed rain and boy did it rain. It downpoured for a solid 30 minutes. Then it stopped. What we thought was going to be a canceled game turned into a delayed game.

8th Grade

Playing on a wet field changes the game. Every play was more difficult because we were slipping on the wet grass. Despite the challenges, we pulled through with the win, the final score of 30-0.

7th Grade

The 7th graders worked just as hard. They played on a wet and slippery field and managed a 14-6 win against Stinson. Player of the Game went to two students this time: Jamari Sumpter and Dain Perez.

Injuries

With all physical activities, football runs the risk of injuries and unfortunately this game we had several. Although it’s not something we want or are proud of, injuries are part of the sport. We can practice our falls, practice our tackles, and always strive for the best, but we “Never know which play could be our last.” -Coach Bailey.

The 7th grade football team played at Vale Middle School, but sadly they loss 18-8.  As the season moves forward, they are becoming more and more of a team.

Stevenson Game

8th Grade

Our A team killed it with a 40-6 win over Stevenson. The B team fought until the very end, but ended the game in a 6-6 tie. The team came together to keep spirits high, but walking away with a tie is almost as bad as walking away losing.

7th Grade

Both of the 7th grade football teams pushed and fought until the end of each game. They crushed Stevenson with the ending scores of 24-0 (A Team) and 26-0 (B Team). With scores like that, it’s clear the boys have become a team.

Vale Game

8th Grade

The A team ended their game against Vale with a score of 14-8.  Christian Solis scored the first touchdown. Later, Daniel Guerra scored the second touchdown.  Our B team also had a very good game. The score was 20-0. Angel Anderson scored the first touchdown, in 3 quarter Javon Daniel, and the final touchdown was me, Cyles Salazar.

7th Grade

We have one game left of the regular season. We are hoping to pull off another W and make it to the championship game! Keep your grades up because they are checking! Let’s finish the season strong.
