CAST Teach Instructional Facilitator Barbra Bloomingdale instructs CAST Teach freshmen in the game Head, Shoulders, Knees and Cone during an Athletic Summit featuring coaches and other speakers Feb. 24 at NISD Sports Gym. Students are Iyaleah Guerra, Chris Olivarez, Cesar Samano Russell, Alejandro Preciado, Omar Cornejo, and Max Saenz.  The heart healthy exercises were part of activities for American Heart Month. Students learned about other heart-healthy habits and raised money for the American Heart Association. During February, CAST Teach students (Center for Applied Science and Technology) also learned techniques for managing stress, how to do Hands-Only CPR and about the importance of sleep. “I had a lot of fun doing CPR while still learning about a serious topic,” Freshman Gabriela Garcia said. “Learning CPR was easy for me, and I am glad I got the hands-on experience.”   Photo by Ericka Olivarez
