Fair joins administration team

Assistant Principal Johnnie Fair said his wife inspired him to upgrade his position on the academic ladder.

“I thought it would be a great way to reach out to more kids,” he said.

Fair’s wife, Linda Fair, is an assistant principal at Alamo Heights ISD.

Fair started his newest job – and first job as an assistant principal – at Stevens in November, replacing Reggie Ollendieck who took a job as assistant principal at Warren High School. Fair also taught government and coached football at Reagan High School, as well as social studies teaching jobs at Brandeis High School and Southwest High School.

A graduate of Killeen High School in Central Texas, Fair said he recalls the diverse student body there. Because of the diversity here, he said his high school experience gave him a good idea of what working here would be like.

“Stevens is kind of like my hometown,” he said.

Fair has been a presence in the halls, engaging students in what he said is the most important part of his job: “getting the students here where they feel they are getting their best opportunity to get their education.”

Fair said he believes he has good relations with students here, and feels respected.

He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Angelo State University in San Angelo and a masters in education from Lamar University in Beaumont.

At the end of the day, Fair goes home to three kids.
